MAGIC GIRL, an Ode to Rainbow Brite, is an iridescent one woman show that uses movement, microphones, sound, and light to explore personal history, nostalgia, and unabashed self love. Taking inspiration from the artist’s childhood, MAGIC GIRL creates a journey that is at times hilarious and subversive and at times gentle and deeply vulnerable. Using corded microphones, two hand-held LED lights, and a soundscape created from manipulated, outdated pop songs, this evening-length piece is a kaleidoscope of extremes.
